About Green Sprout English School
Green Sprout English School is a specialized English school in Japan that combines English conversation, academic English, and exam preparation for students from preschool children to senior adults.
We support students who want to develop practical English skills for a wide range of goals, including EIKEN, TOEIC, TOEFL, TEAP, high school and university entrance exams, studying abroad, and business.
Our lessons focus on developing six key areas of English ability: listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking. We use carefully selected, internationally recognized teaching materials that are adapted to the needs of Japanese learners.
One of the unique features of our teaching approach is that students have the opportunity to learn from different teachers rather than always having the same teacher. This allows them to experience different accents, speaking styles, and teaching approaches, helping them become more confident and adaptable English users.
For students preparing for entrance exams and English proficiency tests, we provide practical exam preparation based on past exams, including detailed analysis of question patterns and commonly tested skills. Our goal is not only to help students pass exams, but also to build English skills that they can use in real-life situations.
Students can take lessons in person at our schools, including our Utsunomiya and Minami-Aoyama locations, or online. We regularly assess students’ progress through EIKEN and other assessments and provide support for English qualifications and entrance exams without additional lesson fees.
At Green Sprout, we believe that learning English should be more than simply learning to communicate. We aim to help every student build strong, well-balanced English skills and achieve their personal goals.

What We Expect from Our Teachers
At Green Sprout English School, our teachers play an important role in helping students grow in confidence, develop strong English skills, and achieve their goals.
We are looking for teachers who are not only excellent English speakers, but who genuinely enjoy teaching, encouraging, and supporting students.
1. Teach in English
Our lessons are conducted in English as much as possible. We want students to develop the ability to understand and communicate in English without relying on Japanese.
Teachers should use clear, age-appropriate English and encourage students to respond in complete sentences whenever possible.
2. Encourage and Praise Students
We believe that positive encouragement is essential to effective language learning.
Please call students by their names, recognize their efforts, and give specific praise during lessons. We expect teachers to actively encourage students and create a positive learning environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and trying again.
At Green Sprout, we want students to leave each lesson thinking:
“I can do this!”
3. Develop All Four English Skills
Our goal is not simply to help students speak English.
We place importance on developing all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, together with grammar and critical thinking.
Teachers should consider how each lesson contributes to the student’s overall English development and, when appropriate, incorporate different skills into their lessons.
4. Understand Each Student’s Goals
Every student has a different goal.
Some students want to improve their communication skills, while others are preparing for EIKEN, TOEIC, TOEFL, TEAP, high school or university entrance exams, studying abroad, or future careers.
Teachers are expected to understand each student’s goals and learning level and provide instruction that is appropriate for that student.
5. Give Students Useful Feedback
After each lesson, teachers are expected to complete a Lesson Feedback for the student’s parents.
The feedback should briefly explain what the student learned, how they participated, what they did well, and what they should continue working on.
We believe that communication with parents is an important part of supporting students’ long-term progress.
6. Be Well Prepared
Teachers are expected to prepare thoroughly before each lesson.
Please review the lesson materials, understand the student’s level and objectives, and prepare any necessary activities or questions in advance.
We value teachers who take responsibility for the quality of every lesson rather than simply following the textbook.
7. Work as a Team
Green Sprout teachers work as a team.
Because students may learn with different teachers, it is important to share information about students’ progress, homework, goals, and areas that need improvement.
We expect teachers to communicate professionally with the Head Teacher and other teachers and to follow the school’s teaching policies and procedures.

Our Teaching Approach and Required Knowledge
As we explain to parents, Green Sprout aims to help students develop globally recognized English proficiency based on CEFR levels and EIKEN proficiency benchmarks.
Our teaching approach incorporates CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), helping students develop not only their English skills but also their ability to think, express opinions, and learn through English.
Our goal is to develop practical, internationally applicable English skills, rather than focusing solely on conversational English or test scores.
Therefore, it is essential that our teachers have a good understanding of the EIKEN system and Japan’s high school and university entrance examination system.
Teachers should understand:
- The EIKEN levels and their approximate CEFR equivalents
- The skills and expectations required at each EIKEN level
- The role of EIKEN in Japanese students’ English education and entrance examinations
- The basic structure and requirements of Japanese high school and university entrance examinations
- How to support students preparing for EIKEN and entrance examinations
- How to balance exam preparation with the development of long-term, practical English skills
